On Friday Ansley, Alison, Deb and Denise hit the road to shop for garden materials.  First stop, Hicks Street, where Ansley had spotted a healthy tree being removed by SavATree.  The nice worker gave us some stumps for the play area.  Then we drove to Build It Green, a salvage surplus store in Astoria to buy compost, lumber and some poles for vertical gardening.  Exciting stuff!

        you mean OUR blog

i’ve invited some of the gardeners who were active last year to contribute to the blog. anyone can contribute–and all blog work counts as volunteer time–so please let me know if you’d like to post entries or photographs on the blog. There’s a limited number of privileges i can assign, but we should be able to work it out that anyone who wants to can share in some way

Here’s a link about the tree on the Brooklyn Heights Blog . . . I guess I wasn’t the only one who noticed the tree going down: http://brooklynheightsblog.com/archives/37264#more-37264 . . . but the workers told me there was no disease. At least our pieces weren’t from the mammoth bottom, in ant event . . .
