We found this on a baby lettuce leaf on Memorial Day, it was only a few millimeters long. Anyone know what it is? Friend or foe?

I always assume foe until proven otherwise. I think this may very well be a cutworm pupa, which is why we put little collars around our delicate transplants. And I think that weird and wonderful moth we found is an adult. Argh!
