Update on Watering Sked

29 Jul

Quick note to let everyone know why the watering sign up has not been promoted yet. There was a plumbing mix up when the steam pipe repairs were made; resulting in a temporarily lack of working water lines in the garden.

We’ve got a work-around involving a hose extention. But, since this solution requires navigating around the rat burrow next to the toy shed, we are not asking for help watering yet.

We hope to have news of a more permanent solution — and be able to schedule volunteer waterers — by next weekend. Thanks.  –

Caterpillars!

Spotted on the new raised bed behind 270 Jay Street. Must be a popular butterfly stop: there are at least two different stages represented. Check them out! I counted at least six on the parsley.

Monarch Butterfly?

Not sure if this is the real thing or an imitator…

A New Butterfly Weed & Signs of Susan

12 Jul

While we have attempted to grow this type of milkweed, Asclepias tuberosa, before, I think this is the best it has ever done. There are two blooming outside the small garden fence. Plus, it looks as if thr blackeyed Susans by the persimmon tree are coming back!

Stayed tuned for a watering schedule. Its expected to be ready for signups this weekend!
