Thanks For A Productive Planting Day!

29 Apr

Our enthusiastic waterers and diggers did a great job!  Thanks to all who came to check out the transplant event, especially those members who donated their annual membership dues.  We accomplished a lot together.

Join Us Wed May 2nd at 6 pm

The next garden event will include watering, sharing indoor seedling care tips, transplanting and more, and will be held on Wednesday May 2nd from 6 pm until 7pm. All are welcome!

Wednesdays in May

Through Wed May 23rd, gardeners will be outside answering questions and tending to garden plants from 6 to 7pm. RSVPs to CVEarthlab@gmail.com are suggested but not required.  Please let us know if you are bringing something from your windowsill to transplant or to “harden-off” prior to transplant. Most indoor seedlings must be exposed to the elements gradually before they go into the ground. Send questions to CVEarthlab@gmail.com or come by on a Wednesday!  Thanks.

Weed Hunting + Tossing Photos

15 Apr

Thanks for playing!  As part of today’s CV Earth Day Fest, gardeners flagged and then threw weeds into a brown compost bin.  Both the air and the ground were cold, but we were able to compost about 20 weeds. Three worms were relocated to raised beds to improve soil.

Upcoming garden activities include a build and org day on Saturday, April 21st at 10am; Flower and herb transplanting will take place the following Saturday, April 28th at 10am.*

Please note that while the play area will be closed for reseeding during much of April and May, gardeners will have some access to the raised beds to tend to plants.

Today’s 2:30 Weed Hunt + Toss Still On!

15 Apr

The rain has held off, and the Wunderground forecast says there’s only a 15% of precipitation during the 2:30pm to 3pm weeding event, so we’re going for it!

Hope to see you out in the play area at 2:30pm, or even sooner at CV Earth Day Fest, which starts at 1pm in the community room. Come by to do participatory voting (open to ages 11+) upcycle electronics, cell phones, play games and win prizes between 1pm and 4pm.

Thanks!  -Denise, Mike + Benji
