Last night I spotted a small Robin hopping around the play area fence. I figured it had a broken wing because it was obvious it couldn’t fly and was trying to squeeze itself through holes in the fence to get back into the play area.
Monday afternoon, I saw the same bird by the slide. Worried about the injured Robin, I put place a saucer of water and live worms near him. Then, I saw a larger Robin come over and feed the worms to the smaller guy.
His mama is taking care of him, I’m guessing he fell out of a bird’s nest in one of the grates in the MTA substation building. He should be on the mend, and on his way to flying sooner, but check him out in the meantime. Look for him around the top of the slide, you can likely see him from outside the fence. -Denise
Is the bird really hurt or is it a fledgling that is having difficulty learning to fly? Sandy
